Coghlans Cookery School was established by the Coghlan family in 2001 and has quickly become one of the foremost culinary cookery schools for the private sector in the UK. Ideally located in Darley Dale, Matlock (and located close to beautiful Peak District National Park), our Culinary Cookery School is easily accessible from Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire (though many people from further afield are drawn to us - one student came from Brazil!)
Our Cookery Courses are planned to appeal to cooks of all abilities - from complete novices to experienced chefs alike, and our philosophy is very simple: good produce, grown or reared in a traditional fashion - not necessarily organic or faddy, but good old-fashioned produce cooked in simple to follow recipes which all students should be able to replicate on their own once the course is completed.
Every cookery course is undertaken in a relaxed and informal environment, but with a clear emphasis on superb quality and real-world practical advice. Our chef tutors know that each student works at a different pace and students are therefore treated individually. Our courses will teach you the top tricks of the trade, lighten your workload, help you to get the most from your time in the kitchen and put the fun back into cooking!
Class sizes are small - normally around 8 people on a full day class, giving one of the highest ratio of tutors to students in the UK and Ireland, with full time fully qualified chefs tutoring and demonstrating what is required. Because produce is local and seasonal there can be variations in specific menu items depending on the time of year, but cooking is about making the most of your products and Coghlans Cookery School is about making the most of the individuals skills.
