Happy Pancake Day! Pancake day has been a holiday which has been celebrated by britons for centuries.  It can be rather confusing since the date of this holiday changes every year, this is because it is determined by when Easter falls.  However, it is always the day preceding Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent).  This always falls in February and March. Some people may wonder where the phrase ‘Shove Tuesday’ came from.  It actually comes from the word ‘shrive’ which means  obtain absolution for one's sins by way of confession and penance. Shrove Tuesday gets it’s name from Christian’s being shriven before lent. Everyone celebrates pancakes for many different reasons.
